Job description

A manufacturing and engineering services business supplying the defence sector require a Supply Chain Manager on a year FTC. Applicants need procurement and warehouse (stores, goods-in, receipt, shipping/despatch) management expertise.

The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for leading all procurement activities for the organisation while also have oversight of the Warehouse function for the duration of their 12 month FTC. The position will start 100% onsite in Portland, Dorset but after a period of onboarding it will be possible to work 1-2 days from home. The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for leading a team of 4.

Specific duties of the Supply Chain Manager include:

  • Lead the Procurement team and be responsible for developing/implementing procurement strategies
  • Responsible for the Warehouse in Portland; goods-in, stores, shipping/despatch
  • Contract Management, Supplier Relationship Management and Supplier Development activities
  • Procurement Bid activity - ensure robust supply chain is established to support new contract wins
  • Collaboration with senior stakeholders - QSHE, Business Development and Design
  • Review of all Supply Chain and procurement processes

Supply Chain Manager applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Procurement Manager or Supply Chain Manager experience within; aerospace, defence or engineering services
  • Ability to negotiate and manage contracts
  • Familiarity with Warehouse processes - goods receipt, stores, despatch/shipping
  • Outgoing, competent and confident individual who is happy with cross-functional responsibility
  • Happy to work a 12 month FTC - 100% in Portland, Dorset to start with hybrid options to follow
