Job description

Global high-tech manufacturer require a Senior Operational Buyer. Applicants need experience of operational procurement and supply chain management activities within a manufacturing or engineering business.

The Senior Operational Buyer will join an operational procurement team charged with supply chain management and supplier development activities. It's hoped the Senior Operational Buyer will contribute to inventory reduction targets, decrease lead times and improve company cash flow.

Specific duties of the Senior Operational Buyer include:

• Management of purchase order process, including scheduling and rescheduling of orders
• Supplier liaison - request quotes, build relationships, expedite, develop, improve performance and lead times
• Contribute to inventory management strategies - reduce inventory held and seek VMI arrangements
• Stakeholder engagement - liaison with engineering in regards to NCR and supplier quality issues
• Use of the business MRP/ERP system

Senior Operational Buyer applicants should meet the following tasks:

• Procurement experience as a Buyer, Senior Buyer or Strategic Buyer within manufacturing or engineering
• Experience of improving supplier performance - hold more inventory, reduce lead times, increased payment terms etc
• MRP/ERP literacy
• An understand of LEAN inventory management strategies.
• Team player, analytical and detail orientated
