The Job


We're currently recruiting a Tutor to join our client for their growing team in the South West to coach, guide and support our learners and their employers. Join our client's Education and Skills team to support their learners in achieving their accreditations within Devon 'Open up to Skills' initiative.

We're looking for someone with a vocational background, who really enjoys supporting their learners to take actions towards further training or employment, and facilitate their personal, social, and educational development. Our successful candidate will be working towards or already hold PTTLS or the equivalent teaching qualification and minimum Level 2 Functional and IT Skills. We aren't always looking for someone who ticks every single box, however we are looking for someone with a background in Hospitality/ catering/ leisure who brings added value to the team to provide a first class customer service, driven by overarching aim to empower lives and improve communities.

In return for your dedication, knowledge, and commitment, we're offering a competitive salary range £24,325 to £28,625 p.a. (dependent on experience) with these great benefits:

Location: Devon, Flexible remote and On Site delivery
Hours: 37 hours (Monday - Thursday 8.30am - 5.00pm / Friday 8.30pm -4.30pm)

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach, guide and support learners and their employers in the effective achievement of the accredited and non accredited vocational qualifications within 'Open up to Skills'.
  • Interpret initial assessments and diagnostics to assess learners capability, suitability and their engagement to ensure timely achievements are met, including retention and achievement targets.
  • Negotiate, design and implement an Individual Learning Plan with each learner. Regularly assess, monitor, review, evaluate and adjust the Individual Learning Plan as necessary.
  • Liaise with all relevant stakeholders to prepare and support employer-led Schemes of Work and Schemes of Assessment.
  • Support transition activities for learners moving to Apprenticeships or on to Further Education



Skills and Experience

  • Experience of initial and diagnostic assessment tools.
  • Experience of delivery in the classroom and the workplace to young learners and adults.
  • A track record of delivering outstanding teaching and learning
  • A track record of developing resources and training programmes
  • The ability to use technology to deliver training and development
