The Job

My client is looking for a Communications Officer to be responsible for communications and marketing to raise and sustain the profile of the employability programme, with potential and current clients, employers, and other partner organisations. The post holder will play a key role in the communications team and be the first point of contact for staff from the team

The role is mostly homeworking with some travel from Southampton to Surrey, candidates need to have access to a vehicle and a full driving licence.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Creation of online and offline content, including written and still/motion graphics.
  • Scheduling of content on social media channels (currently Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram) using content management software.
  • Website page and post updates and production of email newsletters.
  • Act as the Communications team's designated contact for the operational team and their communications requirements.
  • Virtual and in-person event support.
  • Assisting the PR consultant with interviewing clients and writing case studies.
  • Management of online client communities.
  • Collaborate with Communication Managers from Delivery Partners where there is a need for co-branding.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in creating content for on- and off-line channels
  • Excellent written English.
  • Experience using design software, eg Canva.
  • Experience of managing creative agencies and freelancers.
  • Experience using social media scheduling software.
  • Proven ability to deliver outcomes in accordance with demanding time and quality targets and to calmly and appropriately deal with conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent internal and external relationship building skills.
  • Strong communicator with excellent presentation skills.
  • Experience of creating paid social media campaigns.
  • An empathy with and a good understanding of Armed Forces personnel and the challenges they face.

My client is offering a starting salary of between £25,000 - £30,000 (Depending on experience), 25 days annual leave with Christmas and birthday off, excellent pension scheme, mileage and many more benefits.

Successful candidates will be required to undertake Ministry of Defence security clearance check which requires applicants to have been resident in the UK for over 5 years. Successful candidates will also be the subject of an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (EDBS) check.
